Minnesota joined the United States as a Union State in 1858, three short years before the start of the Civil War. Volunteering troops immediately, Minnesota has deep and meaningful connections with places like Gettysburg & Antietam, but what of Black experiences for rural Minnesotans at the time? Join the Runestone Museum, who maintains a replica Civil War era Fort, to discuss these Black Experiences in Minnesota during the Civil War. Join us online!
