My mother worked in the superintendent’s office throughout my schooling years. At home in the evenings, she would still answer our phone, “District 206.” The imprint was strong. The imprint remains. Mrs. Bergstrom taught me how to spell. Mr. Iverson taught me how to write a poem. Mrs. Anderson gave me a locker and a safe place to call mine. I can’t name them all, I would need another book.
