Mask Holder - OnlineHobbiesWhen you get to take a breather just drop your mask and this holder will keep it right where you need it when you are ready to re-mask. We’ll use a combination of Miyuki Cubes and Seed Beads strung on waxed polyester cording and separated by knots. A lobster claw on each end lets you add it to your elastic and remove it for washing. Included in the cost of this course is the kit with everything you will need. Registered participants may pick up the kit from the Community Education office or have it mailed to your home. Migration Quilt - OnlineHobbiesIf you’ve taken a beginning quilt class and are ready to take the next step, this class is for you. The Migration quilt is made from 4 different types of triangle blocks using 5 different fabrics. You will learn several strategies for cutting and piecing triangles. Minnesota Starwatch PartyHobbiesLocate and learn about the constellations like The Big Bear, Cygnus the Swan, Pegasus the Winged Horse, and some of their great stories behind them. We’ll have giant telescopes aimed at Mars as well as the moon, Jupiter, Saturn and other great celestial treasures. They’ll also be a great video telescope for views of extra distant celestial targets. I’ll also be bringing a great video telescope for vies of extra distant celestial targets. You’ll also received a free package of star maps, constellation charts, and other great information including stargazing apps, websites, and purchasing a telescope. Students under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. When you get inside the park and come to a 'T', take a right and the event will be at the end of that road. You can pay per person or families of 3 or more get a discounted rate, click on rate box. Bio: Mike Lynch is a meteorologist at WCCO Radio and has been hosting star watch parties and teaching astronomy classes for over 45 years. He also writes a weekly stargazing column for the St. Paul Pioneer Press and is the author of the books; “Mike Lynch’s Minnesota Star Watch” and “Stars, a Month by Month Tour of the Constellations.” Both books will be available for purchase at a discount. Super cool glow in the dark star shirts will also be available for purchase. These cases are great because they are insulated and you can pop your flat iron in them right after you are done with your hair. They are nice for home use or travel! Sewing Machine Clinic/ Learn to Sew Sessions - OnlineHobbiesDo you have a sewing machine that is gathering dust because you’re not comfortable using it? We will cover basic maintenance and cleaning techniques, then sew simple tote bags. Confident beginners should also have time to sew a fabric face mask. Before class begins, please make sure that you have 2 yards of cotton fabric, at least 2 bobbins, at least 2 sewing machine needles, the power cord and foot pedal for your machine, thread, a seam ripper, and the manual for your machine. If you don’t have a manual, we may be able to find a downloadable version online. If your machine has extra feet or tools, make sure you have them ready.
