Decoding the Past: Unraveling the Origins and Meaning of the Kensington Runes

In this presentation, we will explore the origins and meanings of the runes carved into the Kensington Runestone, with particular focus on those that are unique or controversial. We will examine both sides of the authenticity debate and provide an objective, research-based perspective on what the linguistic evidence can and cannot tell us.

Runestone Museum - Kevin Johnson

Operations Coordinator

Kevin Johnson is a dedicated historian, educator, and management professional with a Bachelor of Arts in History from Southern New Hampshire University. As a retired First Sergeant in the United States Army, he brings more than 24 years of experience in operations, education, and records management. Throughout his career, he fostered environments of professional development and lifelong learning. In August 2025, Mr. Johnson joined the Runestone Museum as Operations Coordinator, a role that allows him to blend his background with his lifelong enthusiasm for history, research, and community engagement.
