  • Level Up Your Genealogy 2 - Intermediate Class - Online

    Moving beyond auto-generated hints on the big platforms like Ancestry.com and MyHeritage is the only way to make progress in your research. I will show you more ways to find obscure records, how to use them and research techniques used by the pros. This class will be conducted online and instructions will be provided well in advance. No software will need to be downloaded when using a computer, you'll simply click on a link. If you are using a phone or an ipad, it will prompt you to download an app.You will receive your invitation to the email you provided during registration.
  • Long Prairie River SUP Tour

    Experience paddleboarding unlike any other in Douglas County. This guided group activity is the most scenic adventure offering at Hang Loose. Winding down the Long Prairie River with your fellow paddleboarders and coach Mike Jost will be unforgettable. You'll start out from Lake Carlos Marina, paddle down to the head waters and then down the river to the takeout spot spanning nearly three miles of untouched terrain within Lake Carlos State Park. This experience is recommended for intermediate to advanced paddleboarders and takes about 2.5 hours. Transportation is provided back to the marina after taking out. Now boarding... Hang Loose MN!
  • Milkweeds for Monarchs - Online

    We have over a dozen Milkweeds that are native to Minnesota. Let’s chat about the wide variety of these great pollinator plants! Some are wildly popular and very common growing in gardens and local sceneries. We also will discuss where to buy milkweed plants and seed, plus how and where to add these pollinator magnets to your landscapes. Participants may request an informational folder, native plant book, and be entered into the prize drawing simply by emailing the instructor after class. An email invitation will be sent from the instructor with a PDF version of the PowerPoint and the Zoom link to the meeting prior to the presentation date. You will be able to interact live with the instructor during the online presentation to answer any of your questions.
  • Monthly Craft Club (Ages 6 - 90)

    Enjoy creating together during the Monthly Craft Club at the Design Station location. This club is appropriate for ages 6 years and up! The art project for each month will have a seasonal or home décor theme. All materials are provided! Class size is limited, so sign up today!
  • Pickleball Indoors

    Pickleball is an exciting game created for any age to play and enjoy. It combines badminton, ping pong and tennis. It can be played with two, three or four players and is very easy to learn, not to mention fun to play!! Monthly fee is $24 or $3 drop in each time.     Experience the joy of pontooning on Lake Le Homme Dieu or Lake Victoria with the crew from Let’s Go Fishing (Alexandria Lakes Area). The Let’s Go Fishing crew will supply the pontoons and all life jackets so you and your friends can relax and enjoy the beautiful views! Registration for both participant and staff is required to ensure that we have an accurate count for the pontoon and all the supplies needed for an enjoyable ride. Please note if you require a wheelchair.

  • Posture & Osteoporosis Workshop: Building Better Bones - Online

    Have you ever caught sight of your reflection in a window or mirror to see that your head leads the way? Or noticed that your shoulders and upper back are too rounded forward? You’ll learn simple techniques to improve posture and stand straighter. We’ll do exercises to help flatten the upper back, un-round shoulders and flatten your midsection. We’ll talk about how to reduce the risk of osteoporosis and related injuries and how to re-gain bone mass. We’ll discuss the latest research findings on nutrition and talk about the importance of minerals and trace minerals for bone health; foods that help and/or harm your bones and more. Wear loose, comfortable clothing. You will need a resistance band or tube for some of the exercises. This class is being held online, interactive through Zoom. You can choose to enable your camera and audio, or just view the live content. More information will be sent before class.
  • Power Adult Pickleball League (Level 3.5 & up)

    This pickleball Power league is for players that are 3.5 and up skill levels only. Players will be assigned a court each night with 3 other players. Players on the assigned court will play 2 games to 11 points with each player on their court. Individual points will be kept and the player with the most points at the end of 5 weeks will be declared the Champion!

    Senior Housing Tour

    Is a change of housing in the future for you or a loved one? Learn about some of the choices in the Alexandria area (senior apartments, adult foster care facilities, and 55+ housing communities.) After a short informational session, board a school bus and visit 2-3 senior housing sites. The bus will have wheelchair accessibility. Sites will be finalized about two weeks before the tour date. Depending on the site, the tour may include walking longer distances.

    This series enrolls you in the 4 Spring films: April 1 & 15 and May 6 & 20. Foreign movies are typically shown on the 1st Monday of the month and Documentaries on the 3rd Monday. Be sure to check each month's film schedule to confirm dates. You may wish to stay after the movie for a discussion of the film led by a member of the film study group.   • Spring Roll Symphony Cook-along - Online

    Join Tess as she walks you through the process of creating two types of spring rolls bursting with a symphony of flavors bold and bright enough to wake up any and all taste buds. Choice of meat (chicken or pork) & veggies will fill the crispy spring rolls, and fresh veggie and precooked protein of choice will fill the fresh spring rolls. Two types of wrappers will be used. Participants will be able to customize filling, ingredients, and seasonings according to their taste or dietary preferences. Join in the fun as we dive into the world of spring rolls! Participants will receive a list of ingredients in advance of the class to allow time for shopping. Have your questions answered by the instructor and interact with other participants as you cook-along. While cooking along is loads of fun, it is optional. Participants will also receive a copy of the instructor’s personal recipes in PDF format following the class. This class will take place on Zoom.

    In this advanced stand up paddleboarding class be prepared to step up your cadence and core strength! You will start with a brief onshore technique clinic and then paddle out to experiment with your new skills. Sign up with a friend or two and take advantage of summer lake time! Wear comfortable clothes. You may get wet. SUPs, PFDs and paddles will be provided. Bring your own if you'd prefer.

    Fly through the air on the newest thing to do behind a boat! Very much like wakesurfing, wakefoiling will challenge your balance and reward you with an absolutely magical experience. Instead of surfing along on the surface of the water, your goal is to "get on foil" which means you are actually gliding along on the wing of the board while you and the board hover 3 to 48 inches above the surface. Flying along on foil is exhilarating! Everything you need is included.

Students will practice the skill of observing and drawing from observation. In class you will experiment with a number of drawing techniques that have been used by artists for centuries. This class is geared toward beginners but is suitable for those who wish to refresh their drawing skills or just need a class for motivation to draw. All supplies provided by the instructor.
