    This introductory workshop in the art of watercolor welcomes all beginners. This workshop will help students of all ages discover what happens when paint meets paper! Topics will cover the selection of paints, brushes and paper; mixing color; loading and handling the brush; and application styles. By the end of the workshop, students will be creating simple watercolor compositions. All materials will be provided by instructor.

    DIY your own blanket ladder. A blanket ladder offers simple, yet stylish storage of blankets or special hangings. Join us to build your own blanket ladder from scratch - yep, that means power tools! Select wording is available to add as well. 
  • Keepsake Art Journal

    Starting with file folders and some clever cutting and folding, you will create a small journal with some tabs, pockets, fold-out pages, and more. Using a variety of painting, collage, and doodling techniques, you will fill your pages with various mementoes and treasures that have meaning for you. Most supplies and materials will be provided, and you will want to bring along some papers and pictures that are special to you. These can be photographs, copies of photos, tourist brochures, business cards, menus, etc. Your journal will be a personal keepsake for you. It can be about a favorite vacation spot, someone special in your life, alive or deceased, a pet, or pretty much anything you’d like to remember in this creative way. This is also a great opportunity to write a little story book for a favorite person in your life. The instructor will have a lot of materials to choose from, but if you want to make it personalized, bring some of the following items: ? Copies of photographs ? Papers in someone special’s handwriting ? Buttons, charms, items that have special meaning ? Papers torn from magazines that have attracted your attention ? Post cards ? Tourism brochures ? Business cards ? Menus
  • Kumihimo (Japanese Braiding Technique)

    Kumihimo is a Japanese braiding technique that can used with a variety of materials. In this introductory class, we will use satin cording to make a bracelet or necklace. A $5.00 materials fee is payable to the instructor.

    This Mother's Day show Mom how much she means to you by creating her a gift she'll love! We invite Dads and kids to come and choose from making a tray or framed sign and pick a saying that fits your family. Light snacks and drinks will be served. 
  • Nature's Sketchbook

    Explore the fun and challenge of drawing from observation. This class explores the tradition of nature journaling. If you want to develop skills to draw what you see, using pencil, watercolor, ink, we will learn about line, form, space, value, composition, perspective and proportion. Classes will be held at the Legacy of the Lakes Museum and possible other excursions in and around the museum. The class is supportive and interactive and each student’s individual style and contribution is valued! All drawing skills are welcome.

Under careful guidance, you will learn the specific technique required to achieve this stunning one-of-a-kind abstract art that will leave your friends wondering how you did it. Be prepared to leave class with a unique, gallery worthy masterpiece! All artistic abilities are welcome! A $30 supply fee is payable to the instructor at the beginning of class. 
  • Painting Barn Quilts

    Painting Barn Quilts is a popular, lively 4-hour class with guided instruction which will take you through the process of barn quilt painting from beginning to completion. You will choose a quilt pattern from the several dozen offered or you may bring your own (instructor will evaluate difficulty level). You will gain knowledge on measuring, layout, taping and painting as related to barn quilt painting. You will leave with your own masterpiece, ready for hanging and possibly the inspiration to participate in a Barn Quilt Trail in your own neighborhood! A $35 supply fee due to instructor at beginning of class. 
  • Pillow Talk

    Create your own "pillow talk" for any room of the house. Choose from our options of sayings or customize your own. Is there a special handwritten saying that you would love to put on a pillow? We can do that too! You could also make a handwritten saying of yours and put it on a pillow for your kids or a special someone in your life. The possibilities are endless and so is the fun! Customized registrations must be in by June 3. 
  • Spicy Spiral Table Runner

    This runner has such a fun shape that is easy to make using the ten degree wedge ruler. You need just 8 fat-quarters of fabric, backing and batting - no binding. Make it traditional like the sample or spice it up with some bright batiks. You will want to make one for every occasion and for gifts! Registration fee includes pattern and ruler.
