First LEGO League (Gr. 4-6)
Imaginative thinking and teamwork build tomorrow’s innovators! With adult Coaches to guide them, FIRST® LEGO® League teams apply science, engineering, and math concepts, plus a big dose of imagination, to develop solutions to real-world challenges. They also design, build, and program LEGO MINDSTORMS®-based robots to perform autonomous “missions” on a playing field. Along the way, they develop critical thinking, team-building, and presentation skills. Dates and times are not listed as this will be determined by the Coaches. For more information, visit https://www.firstinspires.org/robotics/fll. Registration deadline September 25. Parent coaches are needed, we can't run the program without you!
First Tech Challenge (Gr. 7-8)
FIRST Tech Challenge teams are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format. Guided by adult coaches and mentors, students develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles, while realizing the value of hard work, innovation, and working as a team. Dates and times are not listed as Coaches will determine practice dates. For more information, visit: https://www.firstinspires.org/robotics/ftc. Registration deadline is September 25. Parent Coaches are needed, we can't run the program without you!

Hot Chocolate & History: "Shipwrecks on Superior"
History At Home Or The Museum
Legacy of the Lakes Museum will host February’s Hot Chocolate & History. It’s said that Superior never gives up her dead. With over 350 shipwrecks and 10,000 lives lost, Lake Superior has tales of tragedy, heroism, and mother nature’s fury. This talk will look at well-known and lesser known shipwrecks on the largest of the Great Lakes, using images, data, and scans from decades of underwater archaeology. When you arrive at the Legacy of the Lakes Museum, you will be welcomed with hot chocolate! If you are unable to attend in person but would like the recording, please note that in your registration choices.
Adult Fall 2024 - Summer 2025
Hot Chocolate & History: "The Kensington Runestone: Is It Real or Is It a Hoax?"
History At Home Or The Museum
The controversy is over 100 years old: Did an immigrant Swedish farmer find a buried rock in 1898 that contained an ancient runic message carved by Viking explorers in 1362? Or is the whole thing a hoax, perpetrated by the farmer or someone else? The instructor will present both sides of the controversy and will invite you to join in the discussion. Attend in person or online! If attending in person at the Runestone Museum, you will be welcomed with hot chocolate! If you choose online, you will receive an email from the instructor with the Zoom invitation to access the class.
